Calculate budget to travel to Barcelona

Last updated: 12/10/2026

In this post you will find an indicative budget of the expenses that you can have during your visit to the city of Barcelona.

En este post encontrarás un presupuesto orientativo de los gastos que puedes tener en tu visita a la ciudad de Barcelona.

Accomodations

In high season it is not always easy to find accommodation in Barcelona. Ideally, look for a well-connected hotel or apartment with a nearby metro stop and, better If it’s close to the city center.

I prepared a selection of well known hotels of the city to guide you in your selection. Prices are based on mid/high season.

Hotels 3*

Lodges

Appartments

Other options are tourist apartments that range from €70 to €300 per night.

Resume:

  • Low – cost: 40€/per night.
  • Average price: 80€/per night.
  • High end: 300€/per night.
  • Appartments: 100€/per night.

Food

If you stay at an apartment it will be a great advantage to save some money at this point.

On the other hand, most of the restaurants in the city have lunch menus during the week, with prices between €10-15. I recommend that you go through the “Where to eat” section and take a look at the restaurants that I explain to you and decide where you want to eat!

Transport

The best way to get around Barcelona is public transport. Here I talk about the different options and all the rates.

If your accommodation is located near the centre, you will probably use little transport to get to know the city. To go to more remote areas such as Montjuic, Barceloneta beach (although you can get there on foot), Park Güell, Camp Nou… you may have to take some form of transport. I recommend that you group the visits (for example, as I have explained in the 2-day route or the 7-day route), so that you will only have to use one one-way ticket and one return ticket.

In this way, with a T-Casual (11.35€/person) you should already get to know the city. You can get it in the vending machines that are in practically all the metro stations.

Touristic visits

This section will depend on your preferences when visiting the city. For me, these are the must-see attractions that should not be missed:

  • Sagrada Família (€26)
  • Park Güell (€18)
  • La Pedrera (€29) or Casa Batlló (€35)
  • Picasso Museum (€17)

As you can see, just these visits already add up to €69. Therefore, it is worth considering whether one of Barcelona’s tourist passes could save you money. Here I explain what each pass includes and how they work.

Remember that you can also enjoy countless free things in Barcelona, such as exploring the historic city centre (check my recommended 2-day and 7-day itineraries), relaxing at the beach, or enjoying one of the best views of the city from the Bunkers del Carmel.

How much should you budget for attractions in Barcelona?

If you plan to visit the Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and other iconic landmarks, you should budget around €80–€150 per person for entrance tickets, unless you use one of the Barcelona tourist passes.
